Italy and Spain plan 5G auctions, DT and Telus voice concerns

Plans for 5G auctions, mainly in the C-bands somewhere between 3.4 GHz and 4.2 GHz, are mounting up. Italy and Spain are jumping in, but operators in Germany and Canada are concerned that their regulators will hold back 5G progress. Italy will auction licences in three sets of airwaves in September and the government hopes to raise at least €2.5bn. Regulator Agcom said it will offer frequencies in 694-790 MHz; 3.6-3.8 GHz; and 26.5-27.5 GHz. Two blocks of 80 MHz and two blocks of 20 MHz will be made available in the mid-band, while five lots of 200 MHz will be available in the high band.
