Apple files to invalidate four Qualcomm patents

Apple has opened another front in its war against Qualcomm, challenging four of the licensing giant’s patents. The iPhone maker filed four claims with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), adding this to its current actions in the US International Trade Commission(ITC) and in various courts round the world, all challenging Qualcomm’s royalties policies and its broader IPR business practices. Apple and some of its manufacturing partners have suspended payment of licensing fees to Qualcomm while the disputes rumble on, and the chip provider has retaliated with lawsuits for patent infringement and other claims.
